Estonian Sports and Olympics Museum's exhibition won a special award at the biggest creative festival in Estonia
The Golden Egg Awards is Estonia's largest creative festival, which recognizes the best works in design, advertising, and marketing. At this year's festival, the Estonian Sports and Olympic Museum's exhibition “The Heating Finish Line. Sport in a Changing Climate” won the Earth Egg special award, which is given to the most sustainable and responsible work.
The exhibition invites everyone to discuss how we can practice sports in a way that places less strain on the environment and is as sustainable as possible for both people and nature. Innovatively, the entire exhibition is built using as many eco-friendly and recycled materials as possible, turning old plastic sports waste into new installations.
According to Maris Mägi, the curator and project manager of the exhibition, the recognition received is a great honor and shows that the direction of creative and exciting design can also be created in an environmentally friendly way, without making any concessions in the implementation. “A very large part of the success of this exhibition is definitely cooperation. The appearance of the exhibition was contributed by students from the Tartu Raatuse School, who created outstanding and diverse installations from materials left over from sports competitions to the otherwise calm appearance of the exposition,” adds Mägi.
"For the creative agency, the working conditions were also hotter than usual in the creative process, because it was necessary to tie together the museum's ideas and ready-made solutions, the students' installations, and keep the exhibition, which was created from recycled materials, in a unified style," says Anti Veermaa, project manager for the exhibition design from DADA AD creative agency.
The Earth Egg special award is cross-category and the recipient is selected from all finalists. The exhibition recognized with the special award can be seen at the largest sports museum in the Baltics, Rüütli 15, Tartu's main street, during museum opening hours. The exhibition was supported by the City of Tartu and the Environmental Investment Centre.
