The Sports Museum becomes the first Green Key certified museum in Tartu

As of March 11, the Estonian Sports and Olympic Museum has been awarded the international Green Key environmental certification. This prestigious quality label is given to institutions that meet high environmental and sustainability standards. The Sports Museum is now one of four museums in Estonia to receive this recognition.

Our sports museum and the Estonian Paralympic Committee and have opened the Paralympic Gate in Tallinn Airport

A completely unique interactive Paralympic-themed exhibition has been opened at Tallinn Airport. The Paralympic gate, created in collaboration with Toyota Baltic, is located at Gate 8 and displays Estonia’s history at the Paralympic Games and introduces various parasports disciplines in more detail. This is the first time that the Paralympic movement is displayed at such a grand scale in Estonia.

From June to August, five museums – the Estonian Sports and Olympic Museum, the Ice Age Centre, the Tartu City Museum, the KGB Cells Museum, and the University of Tartu Museum – are open on Thursdays until 8:24 PM, giving visitors plenty of time to explore exhibitions and participate in special events.

Stay at Kääriku hotel as if in the midst of the Olympic Games

In collaboration between the Estonian Sports and Olympic Museum and Kääriku Sports Center, Olympic-themed hotel rooms have been created, providing an overview of all past Olympic Games. This unique project allows hotel guests to experience something extraordinary, highlighting the excitement and inspiring moments of the Olympic Games.

The Estonian Sports and Olympic Museum has been nominated for the European Museum of the Year Award.

The European Museum Forum announced on December 4th the museums that will compete for the title of European Museum of the Year in May 2024, and among them is the Estonian Sports and Olympic Museum located in Tartu.
